The Shortest Leap - Ally van den Herik

An Apologetical Invitation

This was a book and author introduced to me by a common friend while I was still in Taiwan. The book is a 20-year work of love and a "one-stop shop" for a wide selection of issues and fields that an atheist might be interested in, including cosmology, biology, evolution, critical discussions of internal textual issues and external issues, comparison of religions, and deeper, subtle motivations for rejecting or accepting the gospel. The author talks more about rational issues and with a well-informed range of books (distilled from a larger selection that cannot be all brought up in the book's scope, as explained in " 'Meet Ally Van Den Herik, author of "The Shortest Leap" ' " in Why We Are Christians podcast). The book is a friendly urging of the case of the gospel and the basic evidences of it, and an attempt by the author to bare her heart and experiences while disparaging no one. I highly recommend it as a introductory to mid-level discussion-book of faith that does the job while providing suggestions for further reading.
